We all know that when it comes to the holiday season we all love to indulge a little bit more than usual. Large delicious meals, warm winter beverages, and decadent desserts leaves us feeling a little more round around the middle than usual. Not to fret however, it is just that time of year to count on the wonderful advantage of voluminous winter coats, large cozy sweaters and flowy scarves to disguise any winter weight. Who would have known that winter clothes could be so cute and colorful. Previous to this winter I always dreaded winter for the heavy, chunky clothes that I never felt cute in. Much to my surprise this winter’s styles are some of the most colorful and playful yet! Looking fab while the weather is drab is what this winter is all about. To make that as easy as can be, I have highlighted some of the ultimate go to items for those looking to revamp their closets for the chilly season.
- Large sweaters with bold patterns are the ultimate weapon at hiding any problem areas. Not to mention they are totally cute and super in fashion at the moment. If you want something that will keep you warm while also being cozy , these sweaters, called “fair-isle” ( like the first pic above) are your go to winter wardrobe essential! Don’t be afraid to try all sorts of prints when it comes to your sweaters, tribal and aztec are also really popular right now!
- HELLOOO Colored Pants!! Whoever decided that pants of all colors were acceptable for multiple seasons were GENUIS! They are the simplest way to brighten up your winter. I know so many of us are scared away because they are a large statement item that can’t be worn with much, but I am here to tell you that’s a thing of the past! Jackets and shirts in colors such as black, white and tan are obviously the easiest way to make them work. Don’t forget however that jean shirts look super chic with colored bottoms as well as accent colors in floral shirts and even striped shirts!
- Vests are the best. I am going to be honest, there was a time in my life when I thought vests may have been the worst creation in the name of winter fashion. Something about the sleeveless looking jacket threw me off and it wasn’t until recently that they finally gained my approval. This winter is when vest are making a major comeback. A vest not only keeps you warm but it also can be worn in many ways, proving to be quite versatile. I love the above look because the vest is nicely detailed, but when added with the skinny jeans and adorable leopard flats, it is like a match made in heaven! This same vest could also double as a wonderful addition to some yoga pants or workout leggings, when you need a little extra warmth and want to look sporty chic. Vest really do have that knack at giving you that winter feel, in a “I am cute but also outdoorsy” sort of way!
